   IIRC he hid them on the path the Minbari ship would take on its way to   
   investigate/destroy his ship, which was broadcasting a distress signal.   
      
   Presumably, therefore, it didn't become a common tactic because the   
   Minbari would have changed their strategy for dealing with "distressed"   
   Earth ships into simply destroying them from a suitable distance.
