   What Red Kryptonite was basically was the Desperate Writer's Best   
   Friend.  If a deadline was coming up and you couldn't come up with   
   anything else for a story, you could just pull a random "Superman   
   gets physically and/or mentally changed into X for twenty-four hours;   
   wacky hijinks ensue" piece of RK out of your butt and buy yourself   
   another month to come up with a real idea.
