   Having personally seen Joe Quesada asked about how long-lasting the Spidey   
   unmasking would actually last (three times in the last month), the most he   
   could   
   be pinned down to is a year.  It's the exact same answer he's given on   
   Newsarama.  And the exact same answer he gave at Heroes Con in Charlotte.  And   
   none of the times I've seen him asked has he winced or made any other face.   
      
   He was asked substantially the same question about other stories going on in   
   the   
   Marvel universe and the answers remained were all pretty much the same--that   
   they won't be committed to *not* retconning anything but that they'll allow   
   time   
   for the writers to play with the new situations.   
      
   So I don't think it has anything to do with JMS's work or anybody else's.
