   Crusade was allowed to get fucked up to the extent that half the   
   filmed episodes are unwatchable. He was the show runner. His   
   responsibility. End of.   
      
   Also, the track record of things going off-track and keeping going at   
   high speed extends to half the TV movies and the Ranger pilot too.   
      
   Fairly "significant" by any measure. Just how many chances does   
   someone need?! Let's not get started on Jeremiah or "Sins Past".   
      
   Had Straczynski stuck to what he said - in public - about the story   
   having a five year arc of normal tv programmes and nothing else, he'd   
   have been fine.   
      
   Once he started to try to milk the franchise for all it was worth   
   (something still continuing to this day) then he was screwed. Screwed   
   through his own inability to carry it off convincingly.   
      
   Sci-Fi fans may well be loyal, they may well be tolerant, but what   
   they are not (normally) is f*cking stupid.   
      
   That the Emperor is naked has been obvious to most of us for some   
   considerable time.
