   Mac Windu probably hadn't wanted to literally kill Palpatine until the   
   Sith Lord had started pretending to be so weak and the innocent one in   
   front of Anakin. At that point he fully realised how dangerous   
   Palpatine really was - not just powerful, but cunning too.
