   More accurately, he might have hit the ground but not at sufficient speed to   
   kill him.   
      
   The ground isn't what kills you. It's the sudden deceleration. It doesn't   
   matter so much whether you hit the ground, catch an aircar or get caught by   
   Superman. Anakin was clearly able to control his descent enough to survive   
   the sudden stop when he hit the aircar. Which means he would also have   
   survived touchdown on the ground.
