The cut scenes were stellar in Dark Forces. Plus, your choices led you
down the light or dark side of the force, which was an interesting
twist. You had to play the game twice to see what would happen if you
   picked the other route.

The story ties well with the movies, and takes place around A new
hope. Your first mission is to steal the death star plans later given
to Leia. Dark Forces introduces the concept of Dark Trooper, a flying
Storm trooper, used in sequels to the game as well.

Jan flies a ship called Moldy Crow in the game, which is later
replaced by Raven's Claw in sequels (Moldy Crow was destroyed in DF).
I really liked the Crow, it had a very unique Star Wars ship feel to
   it.

In the sequel, "Jedi Knight", the main character from Dark Forces -
Kyle Katarn - finds out that he's a Jedi, and we get to wield a light
saber for the first time in a game. It was unfortunately pretty
   awkward though.

In the next sequel; Jedi OUtcast, this had been toned to perfection
and you got to see yourself in third person when slashing through
enemies with your glowing light saber. The cut scenes were horrible
   but the gameplay was fun.

In the last installement of this franshice - Jedi Academy - light
saber wielding is an artform. You get to use a Maul-like staff or dual
sabers and the feeling is nothing but perfect. I find myself playing
Jedi Academy to this day just to slash through Reborns... It's a lot
   of fun.
