   I understand that.  But it was also intended to be a major motion picture   
   with serious effects, serious dialogue, serious budget, etc.  It was aimed   
   at a much wider audience and had loftier goals than pretty much every scifi   
   movie before it (except 2001).   
      
   And I still consider 2001 a monumental work of art.  But obviously it's   
   not for everyone.
