   Why? It's true there weren't plans for 9 films from the very   
   beginning (after all, it wasn't known Star Wars would be a   
   success) but Star Wars WAS written in the form of a serial   
   and as soon as the success of the first film became apparent   
   Lucas had rough plans for 6-9 more films. See
