|    Spoilerish Speculation on The Force Awak    |
|    09 Nov 15 05:58:33    |
My local newspaper, on its front page, contains an article speculating that        perhaps Luke Skywalker will have been found to have gone over to the Dark Side       in        the new Star Wars movie coming up.              They cite his absence from the previews we've seen so far - and from posters       for the movie.              Also, it's noted that he was brash and reckless, like Anakin before him.              Well, I think there is one other possible explanation for the first of those       two items - and that it is more likely. As for the second - the prequel       trilogy was intended to add some suspense about Luke in this way to the       original trilogy (or, more to the        point, make Yoda's misgivings more plausible).              Instead of Luke becoming another Darth Vader, I'm inclined to see him       becoming...              (spoiler space)              i       f              y       o       u              h       a       v       e       n       '       t              g       u       e       s       s              i       t              a       l       r       e       a       d       y              (end of spoiler space)              another Obi-Wan Kenobi.              So he may spend some time all transparent, glowy, and sparkly in the new       movie, telling the new generation of Jedi to "Remember the Force" and so on.              Of course, the death of Luke Skywalker would be such a dramatic moment that it       is likely to happen *onscreen* during that movie rather than being alluded to       as in the past... if that is indeed what's planned.              John Savard              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
