   really, think about it, when is the last time that a "harem"   
   "fanservice" "shonen" "manga" that has anything to do with phrase like   
   "logical plotline" or "masterpiece" or "novel qulaity"?  think of the   
   intended audience of 10-14 years old boys,   
      
   so, no, at least no insult is intended, just stating the obvious.   
      
   beside, your argument is like "you can't judge a movie because you never   
   make one." or "you can't tell the food is good or not because you can't   
   cook.", my counter argument is, "you don't need to eat a whole rotten   
   fish to tell that it stink."   
      
   so my statement is no more insulting than yours, I would rather say it   
   is a difference of opinion instead.   
      
   beside, I don't know which is more strange, you who like this series and   
   being critical about it or me who don't like this series and think you   
   are too harsh? :)

   In EVA I have almost exactly the opposite, I like all the characters,   
   except one. and dislike the story,   
      
   like/dislike characters are different than good/bad character, Snape is   
   the best character in HP but certainly not one I like, a manga example   
   would be GTO's school counselor.   
      
   I can stand characters I don't like, I can't stand bad characters, to   
   me, the characters from IC100% are typecast and bad, another example,   
   would be Ai Yori Aoshi, or to be more exact, they do not feel real to me.

   that is not so bad, it would be hard if your favor characters keep   
   getting kill off in a story, as it happen to me in Eden.

   Cho is a necessary character, because she represented the first crush,   
   which usually are of the wrong impression and seldom go right, so it has   
   to be a throw away character, so she can be anyone, you just can not use   
   any of the regular character for her role.
