From: zzrhardy@iinet.net.au              > I've heard a manga claimed the U.S. started WW2. Anybody know about       > it? reply to my email, k?              Anyone who knows the a bit of history will know that the US weren't       blameless. Heck - it was the US via a certain "Mr Perry" who rudely ripped       down Japans "bamboo curtain" in the first place and opened the door to the       extremely aggressive colonial power s and resulting unfair trade treaties.              The problem was that Japan both despied and admired the colonial powers, and       ended up trying to emulate them.              But, don't mistake this for a defence of the militant right wing or ultra       nationalist movement in Japan. Regardless of how Japan treated other       countries during WW2, it was how they treated their own population in the       face of the enemy in places like Saipan and Okinawa that ultimately proved       that their is no room in Japan for ultra nationalists/right wing       militants... and every time I come across a foaming example of one I am       proud to remind them exactly how their arses were completely whipped in       WW2 for good measure.              ^_^              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
