If you had bothered to actually read the original post I started       this thread with instead of knee-jerking over someone criticizing Peter       David, you would have read my overall praise for the work Douglas Varenas       did on Vol. 5 of Negima.              > Do you compare all manga adapters to scanlaters to try to determine how       > offended you should be? It's a rather sad practice.              No, I use them to determine how somebody else translated certain lines       that the "legitimate" translations use that make me go, "this ain't       right." I usually end up finding out that, no, the legit translator       wasn't right.              > Maybe, during the reading process, if you weren't trying to determined       > how offended you should get you would have enjoyed the manga more?              I would have enjoyed it much more if only I didn't get the overbearing       feeling that I was having my intelligence insulted by the adaptations. I       enjoyed what I read of the scanlations of it.              > I can't be botherd to go through your post bit by bit, but look at       > this:       >       > " Keerist, if Del Rey wants to run a       > story where cute high school girls talk smutty to little boys, then       > they should licence a bloody manga where they do that to begin with!"       >       > As opposed to a story where cute high school girls constantly lose       > their clothing around little boys?       >       > Where do you get off with the false sense of outrage?!              I can dig a story which has smut to begin with. Just don't try to stick       any of your own where there wasn't any to begin with (or take away any       that the original creator put there). Or, for that matter, any element.       *That's* what pissed me off.       --        Dave Watson, Severed Heads Liberation Front (_Stretcher_ CD-R--sevcom.com)       Frezier Balzoff (aka Ottawa), Ontario, Canada Email--shlf [at] ncf [dot] ca        My music and anime webpage: http://eyevocal.ottawa-anime.org/        Craig Hall--1975-2005--Good friend and kindred wild spirit.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
