   in Lorelei chapter 13, the captain of the submerged I-507 is able to   
   see the other submerged American submarine with its optical scope!  w/   
   no light over a long distance no less.   
      
   of course, we should no be surprised, as this is a story w/ undersea   
   firing guns and rotating torpedo tube turret for a WWII submarine.  not   
   to mention the pschokinetic brain wave sonar detection system,
