   You expect me to say otherwise? Jackson might have had the excuse of   
   cutting for time and expense, but I question whether LotR was cut for   
   those reasons alone.

   I never had trouble with the books. I'm also on record as saying that I   
   liked the BBC Radio version which, while it was cut, it flowed reasonably   
   well and provided few dead ends. With Jackson's version, I feel that   
   wHollyWeird morals and plot devices got too involved with the first part,   
   and the last part was too cut down; a lot of the problems with keep track   
   was caused by the cuts rather than the original story, IMO.
