   I guess Usagi Yojimbo would qualify as an American manga, the rest is   
   mostly imitations of some particular art styles.   
      
   I think to be manga probably takes a Japanese viewpoint, there's no   
   fixed art style or subject matter certainly. Just looking at a copy of   
   "Afternoon" next to my desk, Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou is nothing like   
   Mugen no Juunin which certainly isn't like Gunsmith Cats or Historie   
   in style, subject matter or treatment.
