   Not anime, but the latest episode of live action Jigoku Shoujo based on the   
   anime deals with hikikomori.   
      
   This is a no-spoilers discussion.   
      
   At the beginning of the episode, the daughter of a man who has committed   
   suicide is told that her brother's hikikomori drove the father to kill   
   himself.  The episode explores aspects of hikikomori including the father's   
   inability to get through to his son.  It also compares the stresses a   
   teenager experiences to those of a working adult.   
      
   I had planned to discontinue commenting on live action Jigoku Shoujo after   
   I had posted my comparison of anime to live action.  However, I might post   
   a synopsis of this episode with spoilers to discuss the hikimori issue in   
   more detail.
