I like long stories but if someone cannot tell a story as
good as Genshiken in 9 volumes they are not trying. And Maison Ikkoku
ran to 14 or 15 but it kept my interest as Godai suffered all those
distractions before he found his vocation, working with children and
Kyoko got over her self-dramatizing grief.

I am stuck on a lot of series as well. Which to buy next? Can only
afford a couple of volume most months.

Start by listing what you have and then figure out what you don't want
to keep and publish that list. Remembering condition you might be able
to recoup a good deal of your investment so that you can
buy more shelves for the stuff you want to hang onto. I say shelves
because while I was away from home in the military my mother moved my
Tolkien LOTR first editions into the garage. That dimmed her halo for
   me after a rainy winter.

I've got to catch up with you on Tramps (and a lot of other series most
   likely.)
