From: bliss@sfo.com               Japanese title is "Mousou Shojo Otaku Kei"        Author Natsumi Konjoh        Publisher: (in the USA) Media Blasters, Anime Works ,under       license from Futabashi Publisher Co, Ltd,Tokyo        Price:US $11.99/Can $13.99        I hope there ae more than the first 3 volumes that I see on the       shelf at the manga shop at Webster and Geary in San Francisco.                I find this High School, comedy-romance very entertaining and       amusing.        We have bishonen boys, a fujoshi named Rumi, a second fujoshi       and a senior fujoshi a doujin artist, the elder sister of one of the pretty       boys. We have doujinshi, and plenty of doujin with a comic book       conventions and boys and girls working in costume. Tsundere more        broadly drawn than Kusakabe in Genshiken.               The art I find more acceptable than the moe blobs seen       in other popular books. More individuality of the characters       and more clearly declinated features though the bishonen       seem to depend more on differentiated by complexion and        hair color.               The author fills the pages with references to older anime       and manga, with 4 or 5 pages of footnotes to these at the end       of volume 2, and 6 pages in volume 1. This is an education in       itself in Modern Visual Culture, fujoshi culture that is,               I think it is a total gas. Volume 3 will be in my hands       on Wednesday.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
