From: kishik@parkcity.ne.jp              Italia Kazoku - Fuurinkazan -              by YAMAZAKI Mari       published by Bunkasha       ISBN978-4-8211-7023-4              As the author of "Thermae Romae" [Roman Bathhouse] , she lived in       Lisboa, Portugal, when she got the grand prix of Manga Taisho 2010 and       the short story award of Tezuka Osamu Culture Prize. I saw an interview       via Skype on NHK, and thought that she must have a quite unique life.       Having read "Italia Kazoku", she appeared to be much much more       unique than I thought.              The manga depicts how she fought against her surprising, unexpected       and unsorted fates such like learning painting at Firenze in poverty,       becoming an unmarried mother, marrying an Italian 14 years younger       than her, living with his stormy family in a huge house, etc.              I'd suggest you don't read the manga at a public space because it's       so hilarious as you can't help but laughing loud every so often.              Still, Yamazaki-san herself looks to be shy, intelligent and warm at heart.       It's her fate that made her life so extraordinary. Now, she seems to live in       Chicago because her husband studies literature in the town. Peace to her.              Very funny and very pleasing to read.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
