XPost: rec.arts.anime.misc       From: bliss@sfo.com               This one is full of fan service and violence in       contrast to the idealized image of Japan that the central       character Milton who lives in inner city Chicago and skips       school to work at a comic shop in Peepo Choo costume and       thinks Japan is wonderful place where everyone speaks       & dances the same nonsense as Peepo Choo, an anime character.        At Enyo's games he works under the tutelage of       Jody a very virginal asshole who dreams of only one thing.       The shop owner Greg is quite different a very big excon       with a sideline unknown to either employee.        Meantime in Japan a situation has arisen as a       new Yakuza recruit has become a powerful embarassment to       his aniki. Aside from that a girl Mika-Chan is being       bullied and her only hope is upfront Reiko.        There is work in Japan for Greg's alter-ego       and so Jody rigs a contest to give Milton a chance       to visit the land of Cosplay and Peepo Choo dances.        The real fun will start in Volume two I       think as the various characters come together in       their various functions.               This is very funny, and if you aren't ready       to have fun poked at your interest in comics or       manga better stay away.               Felipe Smith is the author, and the book       is published in the original Japanese layout.        $12.95 USA/ $15.99 CAN        First Publication in 2009 by Kodansha, Ltd,       Tokyo, Japan. Peepo Choo first serialized in       Morning Two, Kodansha, Ltd., 2008-2009.               Published in Canada by Vertical Inc.        www.vertical-inc.com              Says here the next volume is due in September 2010.       Got mine at Kinokuniya in Nihon Machi, San Franciso.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
