   	This is a story of an alternative history   
   from the 3rd Tokugawa Shogun on.  In this world   
   men are killed by the Red Face Pox and women assume   
   the positions of responsibility.   
   	It maintains the quality of the previous   
   volume, Aritoko the former Buddhist monk becomes   
   the Senior Chamberlain and finally is allowed to   
   retire.   
   	Some few pages which I found interesting   
   are given to the state of the peasants and other   
   commoners but the bulk of the story happens within   
   the Ooku though the Shogun ventures out to satisfy   
   her interest in different partners.  This turns   
   out to be pretty hard on her partners and their   
   families. A rebellion by men is attempted but...   
   	The Tokukawa Shogunate rolls on as does   
   the Red Face Pox.  Men recover to a quarter of the   
   level of the female population.  The story moves   
   forward from the restart in the 2nd volume which   
   was continued in volume 3.
