IIRC the first actual manga I bought and read was Fushigi Yuugi. I had
bought and watched the Fushigi Yûgi OVAs, and naturally was lost after
watching them. The TV series was never released in Germany, but at that
time I wasn't even aware that it existed, so I jumped in more than
halfway through the story, and ended up wondering what the hell was
going on. Thus I started reading the manga.

Yup. Yû Watase is still one of my favorite manga-ka. I know people tend
to be annoyed of Miaka, but I just love a good adventure story.
