   NIHON CHINBOTSU Manga
日本沈没; Japan Sinks; Jepang Kelem; Jepang Tenggelam; The Sinking of Japan
   Released: 2006

   Author(s): Komatsu Sakyou
   Artist(s): Ishiki Tokihiko
   Genre(s) Drama, Sci-fi, Seinen, Tragedy

    From the Animeraider:

Japan is a seismically active country, so the occasional tremblor isn't
anything that people get too worked up about. They happen and it's
unfortunate, but in general Japan is prepared. But there is one scientist
who believes that he has found proof that a recent quake has triggered a
cataclysmic event, and that within a year Japan will sink into the sea.
Now if he can get anyone to believe him before it’s too late…

Also known as Japan Sinks, this is based on the award-winning novel and
movie of the same name. It's a well-written and complex story, and will
seem like it's about something else before it gets into the meat of
things. Well worth the effort. (above copied from Manga Fox with
   spelling corrected.

Well this starts slowly with the sinking of a bar and the rest of
the building in the fortuitous presence of a Rescue Worker, an
Oceangraphic diver with extended senses, his co-worker and an Earth
scientist thru whose efforts the patrons and residents escape death.
That is the first 4 chapters and it seems as though the action of
Sinking Japan must accelerate and broaden.

   	Powerful art and powerful story.
