   It has been some time since I found this.  Today since question   
   of Bakuman came up I was unable to find any online note about   
   this story in rec.arts.manga.   
      
   This depicts a much rougher perhaps more realistic competition than   
   shown in Bakuman.  Many feel it is far superior but the realistic   
   elements and a bit of echi-ness will probably keep it from being   
   published in North America except by net.   
      
   G Senjou Heavens Door -high school - manga-ka team of writer   
   and artist.  Striving to be worthy of each others efforts fueled by   
   need to pay for medical expenses for mother.  Artist asks writer   
   and writer after violent girl persecution decides to do his best!   
   Artist is competing with his famous father.   
      
   Jump or other magazine breaks them up to compete with each   
   other.   
      Mother dies.   
      Life goes on and the artist becomes an manga editor and   
   the writer, a manga-ka.
