From: kenmlin@aol.com              "Bobbie Sellers" wrote in message news:n3glvj$gtq$1@dont-email.me...              Hi Kio Shimoku fans,              We are really lucky, both of the above are online       presently.              In Genshiken Hato and Yajimacchi talk about their       feelings. Next chapter Madarame and Sue will be together       which is a very staid pace but...              In Spotted Flower perhaps Madarame and possibly Hato       spend a lot of time talking about husband wife relationships       of possibly Madarame. Then we get treated to further exposition       of possibly Yajima and could be Hato relationship.              Not so staid but like quick cuts from the whole comic       it could be part of.              Oh well it is Kio Shimoku so the slices of life are cut       with a very fine pen.              You are all grownâups so I expect you can use the       online facilities to find the Shimoku.              Happy Holidaze, students of Genshiken.              bliss              >>>>>>>>>>>>              I just acquired volume 10 and 11 of the series. Volume 10 is the beginning       of the second series.              Not having read any of the previous chapters, I am guessing that bunch of       students from the club graduated as first episode had to do with recruiting       new members from the incoming freshmen.              A new character, Hato, is a boy who dresses up like a girl only while at the       club. (He changes into the girl's outfit on campus after his classes are       over.) He later was given permission to get dressed at an apartment of an       alumni who lives nearby. Here's where the story gets convoluted. Everyone       knows that Hato is not into men but all the men think of him as a pretty       girl.              It's definitely not a situation that you come across very often even in gay       and cross-dresser friendly San Francisco and I wonder what exactly is       acceptable in Japanese society. In Volume 11 the club goes to a comic-book       convention and Hato, still dressed as a girl, lines up in front of men's       room for his turn to twinkle. And few pages before that, he was glad that a       woman at a stand couldn't tell that he's cross-dressing.              I also thought that the obese new member was a man until 100 pages into the       book because they were all going by their last names and just how she was       drawn.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
