I've never read the book further. Murasaki Shikibu       wrote the book 1,000 years ago. It's difficult to read. First, there       are big differencies in language and culture of contemporay Japan and       of Genji's world. Second, it's very long and complex. Likes of       Dostoyevsky's "The Brothers Karamazov".
