From: thetruemelissa@gmail.com              Hello, manga fans. I've been retained as the editor of a       fanfic set in a manga world, and I'm not familiar with       manga.              Is it normal for the characters to be very immature       compared to real people? I find most of these characters       extremely off-putting, because they act like middle       school kids.              For instance, a handsome co-worker briefly talks to two       women, at their workplace. When he leaves, one of them       squeals, "Hotness overload!" and goes on for a while       longer. At another point, a woman literally *screams*       (while at work!) because she just learned she'll go on a       trip with an attractive man.              I just finished a scene in which two women in their mid-       twenties become irresponsibly drunk and are retrieved by       one's father, and they don't even have the grace to be       ashamed. Instead, they hector the man to make them       grilled cheese sandwiches. I think I'm supposed to see       this as cute.              Is this normal for manga? If it is, I'll ignore it.                     Melissa, an editor who just never got into manga              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
