Incorrect. The observed behavior is that entangled properties really
*are* in a superposition of states (e.g., single photons interfere
with themselves). As far as we can (currently) tell, they have no
“specific” value, and that makes for the “spooky action at a distance”
when observing one half also sets the state of the other half.

Whatever the mechanism, as we understand it that means it simply
cannot be used for FTL communication. But it can be used for things
like encryption, because shared random values like that are still
very useful as a one-time pad. Any hopes at FTL communication relies
on a deeper understanding of how quantum mechanics works, or some
other completely new laws of physics.
