   But what does that even mean?  Objects are just a lot of atoms that   
   are really close together.  The question essentially seems to be   
   “What physically *happens* to an object, say a long stick, that gets   
   swung through an event horizon (assuming a scenario where it doesn’t   
   get ripped apart by tidal forces first).  Does it get stuck as if it   
   were a tar pit, or does it get sheered as chemical bonds are broken?   
   Or is it something that is even more wacky, due to the significant   
   time dilation that is happening?
