Because I don't like       neither hydrogen (flammable) or helium (makes many flight procedures more       complicated and adds a lot of        equipment)       >        > Any ideas if that would work out?                     Good old steam would work too, if its hot enough.       Must mention that the Hindenburg fire was made much much worse by the envelope       material and paint.              I would suggest that if you can make that much special matter for a blimp,       then you can make a foam strong and light enough to hold against atmospheric       pressure, then have a factory crank these out in 3x3x3 meter cubes.       The builders then stack these up, cover them in air tight paint and hook up a       vacuum pump.               Off you go.
