   I have to say laser.   
      
   Solid state, perfect accuracy, no target leading, no recoil, no loud bang   
   announcing your location, electricity for ammo.    
   Free electron lasers can be adjusted in frequency and pulse pattern, and   
   sensors (not included in grunt version) can tell you what works best and ajust   
   in milliseconds   
   You can dial it down to less than lethal (although blinding is a warcrime,   
   where killing is not.)   
   You can use it to cut steel and then weld it back together again.    
   You can use it for tight beam communication over planetary distances.   
   With the correct lens you can use it to cook your dinner.   
      
   With more sensors it can do anything in the app store.   
   Tell you material compositions, fat content, detect smoke, toxins, indeed it   
   could follow a scent. It could listen to people behind a window.   
      
   For electricity you have a capacitor charging from a built-in battery, with   
   clip-on battery possible with either clips or a cable from the b   
   ckpack/car/house/solar cells/thermoelectric chip (using heat from a fire or   
   nuclear), or a mini Z-pinch, firing    
   whenever the capacitor is empty, (reload time = 0,1 sec).   
      
   If you willing to have the mirror on a computer controlled gimball you can   
   have the HUD bracket all movement/IR sources, mark the target by looking at it   
   and hit every time. (just dont get hacked)
