From: adam.w.krajewski@gmail.com              Sorry for my English in some places, I rarely write things that long in it.       Ok, so I will post here most of things about my sf universe, feel free to ask       for more and improve something :D I also need help on some physical stuff in       it.       So, first off, this is not our world, but it has all physics the same. I won't       talk about old history, and will start there where more science fictional       stuff happens.       There is star of Sun type, it has one main rocky planet, the Arda, and two       other habitable rocks, with one being a bit closer to star than Arda and       second one being a bit further. In My first ideas all three planets were in       triangle, and distances        between them were always the same. First question, is it possible to work and       be stable for billions of years?       The system also has at least one gas giant with moons, and some other bodies,       but that's to be designed in future.        The star is in a densely packed cluster of stars (next question, can stars be       around half light year distant from each other and have planetary systems and       be stable?), which helps in colonization and establishing an empire. That's       for "geography", now        the technology and society.       Human race travelled to the two other planets in its system, colonized them,       and for around 100 years there was struggle with establishing colony, some       riots, sovereignity of colonies etc. In meantime expeditions were sent to       other systems, and        colonization started in them. Colonized planets were used for mining by Arda,       and that made colonists very unhappy. (here comes the need for some       McGufinnite I think, because who would want to ship some ordinary metals        through lightyears of cold space,        that's just too expensive) The spark of revolution burned many planets, and       reverted their tech level to primitive space vehicles (I.e. Like nuclear       thermal, nuclear pulse ships) The Arda now, which has monopole on interstellar       travel now, keeps these        planets in isolation, in minimal contact between them, and planets that stayed       loyal to Arda now have some level of sovereignity and are united into a       Commonwealth ruled by Arda. On the rim of colonized space, there is a       communistic empire that was        created after revolution, ans for now, it stays in peace with Arda       Commonwealth. The order is maintained and revolts are squeezed by Colonial       Marines, a military organization that also has a mission to protect planets       against any "external threat",        coming from outer, uncolonized space. There are some smugglers who try to make       money on isolated planets, who have acces to interstellar ships and who sell       high-tech on black market.        Interstellar vehicles are mostly powered by antimatter, but there are some odd       ships powered by Bussard Ramjets, laser sails or even blackholes (what do you       think about last one?). Interplanetary vehicles are powered by fusion drives,       with military being        more powerful than civilian ones, being able to accelerate at 1G for long time       (torch-like performance).        Huh, I am tired, tell me what you think about it, I will post about weapons       tomorrow.       PS Why Arda, the name of world in Tolkien's works? Because there is a       connection between them both, I know it sounds at least weird, but I will       explain it in future. It's really weird story, I know :D              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
