[continued from previous message] It takes between 6.09 MJ and 6.8 MJ to vaporize 1 kg of steel. So using Luke's 2.5% waste heat number and the higher 6.8 MJ number, then attempting to dump 2.72 GJ into the 10 kg projectile will result in it being vaporized.
