From: adam.w.krajewski@gmail.com              Els - do I understand correctly that your analysis are for coilgun that has       just one coil? I am completely ok with multiple coils accelerating projectile       on these 25 meters. Also, the width of projectile is 5 cm, not 10cm. I am       thinking what would be        better than iron in making it, something that could resist more heat. What do       you think?        I think I have missed exactly this equation you say, although I am not sure if       I just didn't put super high Tesla field and efficiency in it. It depresses me       that you say the high speed coilguns wouldn't make sense, because in my       settings lasers are        pretty uncommon and unreliable weapons. :(        How about helical coilgun? Would it make any diferrence?        Mr Feergerson - After reading about space fighters on Atomic Rockets, I came       up with justification for them in my setting. So, as you know, the outer       planets are trying to fight Arda and Loyalist worlds. Making a normal, big       ships could be a bad idea,        because they could afford just a few of these probably. So, they start making       small "space fighter" like vehicles, that give them advantage of having       multiple angles of attack on the Arda ships. So, Ardans, to counter it, make       their own fighters, with a        purpose of destroying the rebels before they get to the positions. Also,       fighters can serve as additional platforms for orbital bombardment, and, if       they can fly in atmosphere, aerial superiority and ground attack. What do you       think?              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
