   I am dealing with a medium-future interplanetary society, and the main goal of   
   air to air combat (as opposed to nuking it from orbit) is to "peacefully"   
   reclaim rebelling territories. Cost isn't really a factor since there are far   
   more expansive fusion

   That was a U2, which while flying high, was lacking in speed. I'm talking   
   hypersonic speeds AND stratosphere here.
