   I suspect not.  In "The Theory and Practice of Teleportation",   
   Niven said of the "destroy it here, rebuild it there" variety   
   of transporter, "I'd never set foot in one of the damned things."   
      
   But he was never too specific about how the Known Space   
   transfer booths worked.
