   For some people you'd think that would be a bonus! ;-)   
      
   But UNIT are in it and I'm sure the Doctor will get some sort of   
   a mention at some stage. (Something along the lines of why he's   
   not dealing with the problem and UNIT are... etc.) So it fits   
   the term "spin-off"...   
      
   FWIW, The Doctor never made an appearance in "Torchwood"   
   either...
