   There are of course 24hr clocks that only need one hand, but if that   
   hand is broken, they too won't ever be correct.   
      
   A sundial also only has one "hand" (although they are rather useless at   
   night, so aren't 24hr clocks), and again can't be correct if that gets   
   broken.
