From: lenona321@yahoo.com              No, I don't mean in the movies.              I was amazed to find, recently, that Bela Lugosi was married five times and       Boris Karloff was married SIX times - which was likely more than average, even       in Hollywood. (Incredibly, despite Karloff's being "too hungry" to turn down       you-know-what role in        1931, he was already married to his fifth wife at the time! How could he have       afforded all those marriages and divorces?)              Even more amazing is that both actors had only ONE confirmed child each - both       offspring were born in 1938. (Yes, I've heard of Tony Karloff, but there       doesn't seem to be any evidence he was actually related.)              And Boris was apparently well-known for infidelities.              So either both men were incredibly proficient in condom use in the 1910s,       1920s and 1930s (I'm referring to condoms in particular because back then, the       Comstock Laws would likely have made it difficult even for married women to       access family planning        services, so it was up to men to go to the store and buy condoms), or both       actors had fertility problems.              Too bad we'll likely never know...              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
