|    The Christine Jorgenson Story (US) 1970    |
|    27 Nov 23 17:05:39    |
From: wlah...@gmail.com              Hey.              Long before the terms “cis” and “transphobic” entered the language and       before the war of the pronouns began, there was Christine Jorgenson. Whether       or not she was the first transgender, she was the first to be publicly known       and soon thereafter,        society – as it was once known – would never be the same.              Starting life named George – who worked as a photographer – the gender       reassignment surgery took place in Denmark – Jorgenson's ethnic background       and where he had family – in 1952. What is so odd about the film is how       almost gentle and supportive        it is and going so far as to show that then George wasn't gay and leaving the       negative reactions to newshounds and media people.              This a film that needs a remake since much of the real story was ignored or       glossed over. In the fractured culture in the US these days, it would be       interesting to see how it would be received.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
