   One of the last US planes in the Pacific is flying   
   to various outposts, and at one of them the Marine   
   commander (or Captain, whatever) tells them, as   
   they're about to leave, (more or less) "we all   
   realize we're only doing a holding action" (and   
   unspoken... it that it's a suicide detail).
