   Wegener was completely wrong about continental drift beyond the bare   
   proposition "Continental drift happens." When plate tectonics were   
   discovered, they were accepted almost immediately, and a corrected   
   version of continental drift with them.   
      
   (Not to mention that it was never really "Wegener against the world."   
   Although geologists rightly rejected his theories as totally   
   impossible, many paleontologists accepted the basic notion because it   
   solved problems for them.)
