   Depends on where and when you are, and how old you are. If you were here   
   and now (in the US in 2014) and of middle years, a prudent wish might be   
   a large annuity, invested in US treasury bonds, that would give you an   
   annual income north of six figures for the rest of your life. You could   
   count on Obamacare to get you health care, the US government to defend   
   you and so on, and you could always shuffle your investments and draw   
   down your capital in case of need; all your other life needs (love,   
   entertainment, where to live) you could handle yourself.   
      
   If you were living in 1800, your wish would be very very different.
