   What I would expect something to be like.

   Yeah, that's what isn't working out. What I see as proper (good) gods   
   would make the story pointless. They would prevent all bad things; no   
   story to write that I want to write. If they don't they're not what I   
   call proper gods. (Unless they're the bad guys,...)

   And that's what I'd do different. What anyone else thinks is good is   
   irrelevant for this, I have to like the way the characters act. Whether   
   it's an evil overlord matching what I find is a credible evil overlord,   
   or a god matching my idea of what they should be like.   
      
   As mentioned, a lot of what sparked my stories was what I'd want to do   
   different to the stuff that annoys me in others' stories (including most   
   'gods' I came across). It just isn't working out with this.
