ARE they? What military operation has Israel launched since 1973 that left
them better off overall after than when they went in?

Take current events. Hamas kills two Israelis, Israel kills 100
   Palestinians.

Do you think Israel WON that exchange? They just lost more ground in the
court of world opinion. That is ALL their military has done for them in
literally decades- make their nation look bad. Militarily powerful, sure.
   But nothing but bullying thugs
   who kill harmless peasants.

You think that doesn't matter? All Hamas has to do to win in the long run is
continue to show they exist. And they will. Much like an old 'Order of the
Stick' comic, it doesn't matter that each attempt has a low chance of success,
   if you can launch
enough of them you WILL eventually win.

Now, admittedly that has nothing to do with women in combat units, as these
decisions are taken at a much higher level.
