I stopped before the end of the section because I       was trying to be very good about the 500 word limit.              I think that, in my mind, I've been treating the whole story as a dream       sequence which makes it distant because I'm subconsciously choosing language       that adds that indistinct element to events. But it's not a dream, she       doesn't wake up and everything is        back to normal. I really *hate* when that happens, so I refuse to do it.              But I do think that her brain doesn't every quite work right afterward. Time       is odd... she's a bit ghost-like, though she's a dragon. But I think it's       clear that distance isn't probably a good idea if I want to pull readers in,       even if it's logical.              -Julie              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
