Seton and Kineson and DuKane HAVE to have those names to make       the references stick. Even then they aren't Richard, or Kimball, or       'Blackie'. Yeah, grandad is       basically Kirk with more sex, at least as the Bosun tells it, and yes, he did       once claim that aliens had stolen his first officers brain, but nothing beyond       that. Except maybe to        mention the far stars exploration fleet. It basically serves the function of       Star Fleet, but mostly exists to be mocked. (and no, grandad was not in it).        Remember the scene in Casablanca with the dueling national anthems? I imagine       a bar and the far        stars fleet singing the star trek them, you know, with the (god awful) words       Roddenbery actually wrote for it...              The good guys can sing 'Our Patrol', which is problematic for me, as it is a       fictional song and Doc Smith didn't write lyrics for it...               --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
