Only one published out of countless manuscripts. Have a non-fiction project
stalled on artwork that will be self-published due to size and subject. And -
I''m not throwing a pity party here - since my skills have apparently
   plateaued on a substandard
level and declined, that becoming a professional writer just isn't going to
   happen.

It didn't help when, after I decided to polish an almost sale, that said
market closed. Seems a lot of SF and F markets aren't taking submissions these
   day.

One editor did suggest, out of the blue, going self-publishing in a certain
genre, and maybe that's an option, but at this point it seems useless.
