   Then the answer is clear.   
      
   During the panel at WorldCon where the big 4 mass-market-publishers of   
   SF/F were assembled and were asked about their opinion of   
   self-publishing, they said that it might be interesting, but if you lose   
   as a self-publisher, it is very likely that no "real" publisher will   
   take you on, because, well, you have proven to be a loser.
